Communities we work with
Our target population are the children, adolescents and young people, persons with disabilities, women and girls, and elderly persons.
At Pamoja Yawezekana CBO, we believe that lasting change begins within our communities. Guided by the spirit of togetherness, we empower people to build better lives through education, economic empowerment, health awareness, and environmental stewardship. Our programs bring hope and opportunity to vulnerable families, youth, and community groups.
Our activities
- Mobilizing community groups in a service network of savings and loans for community-based Microfinance.
- HIV/AIDS awareness, counseling, sessions, support innovative programs of orphan and vulnerable children and home-based care (HBC)for the HIV affected and PWDs.
- Free sewing training for youth, PWD and women in the community.
- A community technical school (Pamoja Yawezekana community education center) for orphans, PWDs and vulnerable youths in the community.
- A rehabilitation program for street children to support their basic needs and provide them with community-based education.
- Mangrove planting and cleaning of the beaches
- Educational support initiative to people living with disability in Kilifi and vulnerable youth.
- A capacity building structure which involves educational training programs in leadership, groups management and financial skills.
- A volunteer program deploying of international volunteers and places villagers in groups charged with specific community tasks in relation to their skills, strengths and interests.
- Alternative to violence peace trainings (AVP) for the community members.
- Eco tourism and environmental management.
- Programs for cultural exchange.
- Provisional computer services for the community, such as typesetting, printing, photocopying and internet services.
- Youth empowerment activities such as sports, theater, career development and drug abuse training as well as building overall awareness and engagement through youth groups projects.
- Community library for reading, borrowing and exchange of ideas.
- Conducting of talks on drug and substance abuse and rehabilitating those already affected.
